Digital strategies in heritage education
 
Digitisation is radically changing the nature of the work done by heritage institutions. Do heritage courses offer enough training in the new areas that heritage organisations need to focus on? What is the ideal course?

Peter van Mensch, The Netherlands
Peter van MenschPeter van Mensch studied biology and prehistory at the University of Amsterdam. After working for a number of different museums he was employed by the Reinwardt Academy as a lecturer in theoretical museology and museum ethics. He played an important role internationally in the discussion on the theory and
methodology of museology and got his PhD in this subject in 1993 at the University of Zagreb. He is a permanent guest lecturer at a number of national and foreign universities and is much in demand as a speaker at conferences in this country and abroad. In recent years the theme of his contributions has moved from museoology to heritage theory.

Dick Rijken is director of STEIM and professor at The Hague University of Applied Sciences. He also works as an independent consultant in the field of digital culture and new media and is a policy advisor for the Dutch government and for the EU.
